A Digital Signature Certificate is a digital method for signing your documents online, eliminating the need for paper-based authentication. The documents needed while applying for a digital signature certificate depend on whether you are applying as an individual or an organization.

Document Required for the individual (Indian Citizen)

1. Proof of Identity (Any one)

  • Pan card ( necessary for IT users)
  • Aadhaar card
  • Driving license
  • Passport.

2. Address Proof

  • Voter Id
  • Aadhaar card
  • Driving License
  • Utility Bills (Electricity/Water/Telephone) not older than 3 months.

The document must be validated and legalised by the native country’s embassy.

1. Identity Proof

  • Passport
  • Visa ( if the applicant does not reside in the native country)
  • Residence Permit Certificate (if applicant is residing in India)

2. Certificate of Incorporation

  • A valid copy of the company's registration or
  • An Incorporation certificate issued by the local government

3. Organization Address Proof

  • A recent document, such as a bank statement and utility bill (not older than 3 months), in the organization's name
  • Authorization letter: Provide an authorization letter on the company letterhead to authenticate the owner of the company
  • Board Resolution/Signatory Proof: A list of directors or a board resolution that confirms the identity of the authorized signatory

Strict Attestation Rules

Foreign documents must be verified through one of the following methods given below, depending on the country or region.

  1. Apostille: Necessary if the native country is under the Hague Convention
  2. Consularization: Necessary if the native country is not in the Hague Convention; in this case, documents must be attested by the indian embassy
  3. Notarization: Notarise a copy of all original documents by a public notary in the home country
